President Donald Trump’s response to the fatal shooting of an unarmed Black man by a white police officer is likely to be the biggest story of his presidency, CNN reported Thursday.
Trump responded to the shooting of Laquan McDonald by calling for “law and order” and urging police to use their “highest powers.”
McDonald, who was black, was killed by Chicago police Officer Jason Van Dyke in July, and the city and the FBI have been trying to determine whether the shooting was racially motivated.
The investigation has been fraught with controversy and violence.
The White House, which had said that Trump’s comments were not “appropriate,” did not immediately respond to CNN’s report.
