Acura will not add a third-gear gear for the new 2018 Acura NSX, the Japanese carmaker said in a statement.
Instead, the company will use a manual gearbox, which Acura says is “a simpler system to operate than the existing system”.
The new car, which is expected to be unveiled in 2019, will have a manual-gearbox version, but only the first two gears, which are set at the same speed.
The new NSX will be offered in both the standard and sportier sports models, which will have four wheel drive.
The sports model will be available in Japan starting in 2019 and the standard model in North America, where it will be followed by the global release of the NSX.
The 2017 Acura TLX, which was released in the US last year, had a second gear, but the carmaker did not mention it in its statement.
Acura has previously said it was considering adding a second-gear option for the NSV and NSX but did not specify when the change might come.
A 2018 Acurado DSX will have its second gear at a speed of 2,000rpm, while the 2019 Acura SLX and NSV will have it at 3,000 and 4,000 rpm respectively.
The new third gear on the NS2 will allow for a more predictable drive and we are excited to offer the NS3 as a first-gen NSX model.””
We have always maintained that the third gear in Acura’s NSV is the most reliable, and our NSX is equipped with a very good fourth gear that is easy to adjust.”

“Avalon has said the new NSV car will have “four-wheel drive and the new Acura LSX” but it did not say when the car would be offered.
